Karl George MBE, widely known as “The Governor”, is an internationally respected governance expert and the founder of Governance AI and The Governance Forum. With a career spanning the UK, Middle East, Africa, and the Caribbean, he has worked in over 12 countries, helping boards and leadership teams strengthen oversight, strategy, and ethical decision-making in times of rapid change

A former partner and Head of Governance at RSM, and a long-standing subject matter expert for PwC, Karl has advised across private, public, and voluntary sectors, delivering governance reviews, frameworks, and leadership development programmes that have transformed boardrooms globally.

Renowned for his ability to make complex governance issues clear and engaging, Karl is the creator of an innovative governance board game and the Effective Board Member (EBM) programme, which has accredited hundreds of directors worldwide.

Through Governance AI, Karl is shaping the emerging discipline of AI governance, introducing frameworks such as the AI Transparency Index™ and leading the Govern the Reset campaign. His published works, including the Reset Revolution, Governance 3.0, The Effective Board Member, and The Seven Chambers of Leadership, reflect his belief that governance must be ethical, behavioural, and future-facing.
