Jana Zacheva

Jana Zacheva is a qualified solicitor with over 17 years of experience specialising in legal and governance advice, mainly for not-for-profit organisations in the social housing,care, and charity sectors. She has held senior leadership roles across governance, legal, data protection, and policy functions for major social housing and care providers in the West Midlands.

Jana founded Governance & Legal Ltd in 2020, a consultancy providing practical governance and compliance advice. She has worked with Karl George MBE since early in her consultancy career, reporting to him as Assistant Company Secretary when he was Chair of Audit at a large social housing provider.

Jana is an Associate of The Governance Forum, recognised for her expertise incompany secretarial duties, including board and committee support, subsidiary management, and statutory compliance. Most recently, she has supported The Governance Forum’s Governance AI services, helping clients adopt responsible AI practices through robust governance frameworks, policies, and compliance measures.

Additionally, she serves as a trustee on the board of Birmingham and Solihull Women’s Aid and continues to practise as a registered solicitor in England and Wales
